With Nucleus Co-op, up to 8 players can play Fear & Hunger together on one PC, each in their own part of the screen, with controllers, keyboard and mouse or several keyboards and mice. The free community handler “Fear & Hunger MP Mod” by Talos91 does the setup and was checked by hub moderators: version 1, updated 29 Jul 2024. Fear & Hunger is a role-playing, turn-based strategy and adventure game from 2018.

How to play Fear & Hunger split screen on PC

Get Nucleus Co-op
Download Nucleus Co-op, free for Windows 10 and 11, and unzip it into its own folder, for example C:\NucleusCo-op. There is no installer.
Keep it out of Program Files, your user folder and OneDrive.
Download Nucleus Co-op
Install the Fear & Hunger handler
In Nucleus Co-op, search the Hub for Fear & Hunger and install its handler, or download the handler file from this page and drop it on the Nucleus window. Then show Nucleus where Fear & Hunger is installed.

Take a seat
Each player presses a button on their own controller to join and takes a spot on the screen. Pick a layout that fits your players.
Playing with several keyboards and mice? Press End once everything is in place to give each window its own cursor.
Launch and connect
Press Launch: Nucleus opens one copy of Fear & Hunger per player and lays the windows out on your screen. Then link them in game, usually one player hosts a LAN or online session and the others join it. The handler notes say how.

Each player runs their own copy of Fear & Hunger, so the PC carries several times the usual load. Lower the graphics settings if it struggles. Performance tips
A multiplayer mode
Nucleus links the windows through the game's own LAN or online mode; the handler takes care of it.

Handler notes

Make sure you install the multiplayer mod in your main game files before running this: https://mattiefm.github.io/FearAndHungerModManager/tutorial-install.html. Enable the mp mod in the game mods options and set your main game to windowed too. Credit to the authors for their great MP mod.
Split-screen setup guide.
Host a game in one instance and join in the others by copying the lobby code, alt-tab to or click on an instance and paste the code with CTRL+V.
If you use multiple keyboards/mice press the END key once when the instances finish setting up to lock and restrict the keyboards/mice to each instance correctly. Press the END key again to unlock the input when you finish playing.
First time you run this the instances could take a while to open because Nucleus needs to make full copies of all the game files for the different instances to work correctly, your saves per instance will be inside Nucleus content folder so be careful about deleting the Fear and Hunger Nucleus instances folders in there (NucleusCo-op\content\Fear and Hunger\Instancex).
