How to play Risk of Rain 2 split screen on PC
Get Nucleus Co-op
Download Nucleus Co-op, free for Windows 10 and 11, and unzip it into its own folder, for example C:\NucleusCo-op. There is no installer.
Keep it out of Program Files, your user folder and OneDrive.
Install the Risk of Rain 2 handler
In Nucleus Co-op, search the Hub for Risk of Rain 2 and install its handler, or download the handler file from this page and drop it on the Nucleus window. Then show Nucleus where Risk of Rain 2 is installed.
Take a seat
Each player presses a button on their own controller to join and takes a spot on the screen. Pick a layout that fits your players.
Playing with several keyboards and mice? Press End once everything is in place to give each window its own cursor.
Launch and connect
Press Launch: Nucleus opens one copy of Risk of Rain 2 per player and lays the windows out on your screen. Then link them in game, usually one player hosts a LAN or online session and the others join it. The handler notes say how.

Each player runs their own copy of Risk of Rain 2, so the PC carries several times the usual load. Lower the graphics settings if it struggles. Performance tips
- A multiplayer mode
Nucleus links the windows through the game's own LAN or online mode; the handler takes care of it.
Handler notes
Make sure you disable crossplay in your main game settings first and change some graphics settings too. Read the handler notes in the UI very carefully.
There is also a mod that unlocks and expands the native split-screen of the game but with this handler you can also use multiple keyboards and mice.

About Risk of Rain 2
The classic multiplayer roguelike, Risk of Rain, returns with an extra dimension and more challenging action. No run will ever be the same with randomized stages, enemies, bosses, and items. Play solo, or team up with up to four friends to fight your way through hordes of monsters, unlock new loot, and find a way to escape the planet. With each run, you’ll learn the patterns of your foes, and even the longest odds can be overcome with enough skill. A unique scaling system means both you and your foes limitlessly increase in power over the course of a game–what once was a bossfight will in time become a common enemy. Myriad survivors, items, enemies, and bosses return to Risk 2, and many new ones are joining the fight.
