How to play We Need to Go Deeper split screen on PC
Get Nucleus Co-op
Download Nucleus Co-op, free for Windows 10 and 11, and unzip it into its own folder, for example C:\NucleusCo-op. There is no installer.
Keep it out of Program Files, your user folder and OneDrive.
Install the We Need to Go Deeper handler
In Nucleus Co-op, search the Hub for We Need to Go Deeper and install its handler, or download the handler file from this page and drop it on the Nucleus window. Then show Nucleus where We Need to Go Deeper is installed.
Take a seat
Each player presses a button on their own controller to join and takes a spot on the screen. Pick a layout that fits your players.
Playing with several keyboards and mice? Press End once everything is in place to give each window its own cursor.
Launch and connect
Press Launch: Nucleus opens one copy of We Need to Go Deeper per player and lays the windows out on your screen. Then link them in game, usually one player hosts a LAN or online session and the others join it. The handler notes say how.

Guide
-
IMPORTANT: On first run select the correct custom resolution in the game options-video options and click save in each instance otherwise they will resize again on their own after you click play in the game (if you have a 1920x1080 monitor for example select 1920x540 res in all for horizontal split-screen or 960x1080 for vertical). You need to create custom resolutions in your AMD/Nvidia/Intel panel (for example: 960x540, 1920x540 etc.) before running the game via Nucleus so the game can see and use them, set the correct custom res in-game for the instances to resize correctly and for the mice to work correctly.
-
If your graphics panel does not support adding custom resolutions use the app Custom Resolution Utility.
-
Select the We Need To Go Deeper process in the Nucleus process picker window after you set the correct custom resolution in an instance, click refresh if you do not see the game process.
-
Only working with one gamepad as the first player/instance (because the game has very poor controller support and uses Unity horrible default input for controllers instead of xinput, connect only one gamepad) and multiple keyboards and mice. The game also does not have gamepad support in menus only during gameplay.
-
If you use keyboards and mice after all the instances have launched, resized and positioned correctly, press the END key to lock the input for all instances to have their own cursor. You need to left click each mouse to make the emulated cursors appear after locking the input. Press the END key again to unlock the input when you finish playing. You can also use CTRL+Q to close Nucleus and all its instances when the input is unlocked.
-
Create a LAN or Online game in the first instance and join in the others, LAN has a max 2 players cap in the same PC. Make sure players do not use the customization option at the same time or one player model will be invisible.
