How to play Call of Duty: Black Ops split screen on PC

  1. Get Nucleus Co-op

Download Nucleus Co-op, free for Windows 10 and 11, and unzip it into its own folder, for example C:\NucleusCo-op. There is no installer.

Keep it out of Program Files, your user folder and OneDrive.

    Download Nucleus Co-op

  2. Install the Call of Duty: Black Ops handler

In Nucleus Co-op, search the Hub for Call of Duty: Black Ops and install its handler, or download the handler file from this page and drop it on the Nucleus window. Then show Nucleus where Call of Duty: Black Ops is installed.

    Download the handler file (.nc)

  3. Take a seat

Each player presses a button on their own controller to join and takes a spot on the screen. Pick a layout that fits your players.

Playing with several keyboards and mice? Press End once everything is in place to give each window its own cursor.

  4. Launch and connect

Press Launch: Nucleus opens one copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops per player and lays the windows out on your screen. Then link them in game, usually one player hosts a LAN or online session and the others join it. The handler notes say how.

  • A multiplayer mode

Nucleus links the windows through the game's own LAN or online mode; the handler takes care of it.

Handler notes

A maximum of 4 players can play the Zombies gamemode. To play Zombies select online, look for a match and select preferred map (on gamepad press the start button to select a map).

Have the other players search for the online match and once connected, each player should select ready up. The match should start shortly after the count down.

For multiplayer, launch your instances and proceed to have the first player host a combat training match. Once the match has loaded, press F2 or the start + select buttons simultaneously on your gamepad to connect the other instances.

To quickly restart your match press F3 or the start + Y buttons simultaneously on your gamepad.

If playing with more than 4 players, or multiple mouse and keyboard, you will need to i) lock input by pressing the end key and ii) assign gamepads first, followed by mouse and keyboard in sequential order, if not menus for the gamepad instances will not work properly.

To play multiplayer over LAN, be sure to change the player ID, and to select the last digits of the host IP - this can be done through the game launch options in Nucleus.

Menu support has been added for gamepads, use the dpad to scroll through the options, and the start/select buttons to select or move to the previous option. Aim assist only works for Zombies.

The hotkey exes (F2 host, F2 Guest, start, prompt etc.) may be blocked or flagged by window defender as potential viruses, but can guarantee they are nothing but false positives as they were created by Perseveruz with Autoit.
