How to play Doom 3 split screen on PC
Get Nucleus Co-op
Download Nucleus Co-op, free for Windows 10 and 11, and unzip it into its own folder, for example C:\NucleusCo-op. There is no installer.
Keep it out of Program Files, your user folder and OneDrive.
Install the Doom 3 handler
In Nucleus Co-op, search the Hub for Doom 3 and install its handler, or download the handler file from this page and drop it on the Nucleus window. Then show Nucleus where Doom 3 is installed.
Take a seat
Each player presses a button on their own controller to join and takes a spot on the screen. Pick a layout that fits your players.
Playing with several keyboards and mice? Press End once everything is in place to give each window its own cursor.
Launch and connect
Press Launch: Nucleus opens one copy of Doom 3 per player and lays the windows out on your screen. Then link them in game, usually one player hosts a LAN or online session and the others join it. The handler notes say how.
What you need
- A Windows 10 or 11 PC

- Nucleus Co-op, free
With .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later and the Visual C++ 2015–2022 runtimes (x86 and x64). Download

One controller per player, or one keyboard and mouse per player. Controllers · Keyboards and mice
- A PC that can run 8 copies

- A multiplayer mode
Nucleus links the windows through the game's own LAN or online mode; the handler takes care of it.
Handler notes
Video showcase/tutorial: https://youtu.be/PgOc1IK4v-o
The handler uses dhewm3: https://dhewm3.org/, remember you need pak000 to pak008 for the base game and pak000 and pak001 for the DLC (Resurrection of Evil).
For co-op: Download the files from here https://www.moddb.com/mods/librecoop-dhewm3-coop/downloads/librecoop-alpha-15-windows-32bits and place the files you downloaded in the dhewm3 folder.
Recommended that you add custom resolutions to all your monitors from your AMD/Nvidia/Intel panel (for example if you are using a monitor resolution of 1920x1080 add custom resolutions like 1920x540, 960x1080, 960x540, etc.).
About Doom 3
A massive demonic invasion has overwhelmed the Union Aerospace Corporation's (UAC) Mars Research Facility, leaving only chaos and horror in its wake. As one of only a few survivors, you must fight your way to hell and back against a horde of evil monsters. The path is dark and dangerous, but you'll have an array of weapons--including a pistol, a chainsaw, grenades, and more--to use for protection.
