Keep it out of Program Files, your user folder and OneDrive.
Install the Mega Man X Online: Deathmatch handler
In Nucleus Co-op, search the Hub for Mega Man X Online: Deathmatch and install its handler, or download the handler file from this page and drop it on the Nucleus window. Then show Nucleus where Mega Man X Online: Deathmatch is installed.
Take a seat
Each player presses a button on their own controller to join and takes a spot on the screen. Pick a layout that fits your players.
Launch and connect
Press Launch: Nucleus opens one copy of Mega Man X Online: Deathmatch per player and lays the windows out on your screen. Then link them in game, usually one player hosts a LAN or online session and the others join it. The handler notes say how.

On first run quickly click ok on the prompt about saving in your documents folder. Create a private or public match in one instance and join in the others, press the escape key in the join match menu to join private rooms, alt-tab between the instances or click on them to use the keyboard in all. You can change your name and region per instance in the game settings-general settings.
-
To connect via LAN for smoother gameplay download the Relay Server files, write the version of the game you have inside overrideversion.txt (e.g. 19.12) then run the RelayServer.exe. Leave the server window open, launch multiple instances via Nucleus then create a LAN game in one instance and join in the others in the join match menu, press escape and write the IP 127.0.0.1 if you can not see the LAN game, alt-tab to an instance or click on it to do this.

This handler also supports dinput gamepads, xinput emulators are not needed. Xbox One/Series gamepads could have issues with background input/focus because of this. You can use the app reWASD to convert them to xbox 360 gamepads or follow this guide.
