Report a bug

Where to report a problem with Nucleus Co-op or a handler, how to get a debug log, and what to write so someone can reproduce it.

On this page

Nucleus Co-op and its handlers are made by volunteers. A good report saves them hours, and gets your problem fixed sooner.

Where to report

The problem is withReport it on
One game (it worked before, crashes, copies don't connect)The game's page on the hub: comment for the author, or Report if the handler is broken, outdated or harmful
The app itself (crashes, screens, settings)GitHub issues
Not sure, or you want help firstDiscord or r/nucleuscoop

Search first: someone may have the same problem, and a fix.

Get a log

The debug log records what Nucleus Co-op does during a session, and is the first thing anyone will ask for.

  1. Open Settings › General and turn on Enable debug log.
  2. Reproduce the problem: run the same game with the same players.
  3. Open the Nucleus Co-op folder (Settings › About shows where it's installed) and take debug-log.txt.

The log turns itself off once it grows past 150 KB, so turn it on right before you test. It contains paths of your PC, which include your Windows user name: edit them out if you prefer before posting.

What to write

Give your report a title that says what happens and in which game, for example "Valheim: second copy crashes when the first one hosts". Then include:

What happens: The second copy closes as soon as the first one opens a world.
What I expected: Both copies stay open and the second one can join.
Steps:
  1. Set up a session with 2 players, side by side, 2 Xbox controllers.
  2. Launch; player 1 hosts a world.
  3. Player 2's window closes.
How often: Every time.
Versions: Nucleus Co-op 3.0, handler version 12, Valheim from Steam, up to date.
PC: Windows 11, 16 GB RAM, one 1920x1080 TV.
Inputs: 2 Xbox Series controllers over USB. DS4Windows not installed.
Already tried: Deleted the game content folder, closed Discord and Steam overlays.

Attach the debug-log.txt and, when it helps, a screenshot of the error. Say whether you read the handler notes and which options you picked: many reports turn out to be one setting the notes mention.
