How to play Sonic Battle R split screen on PC

  1. Get Nucleus Co-op

Download Nucleus Co-op, free for Windows 10 and 11, and unzip it into its own folder, for example C:\NucleusCo-op. There is no installer.

  2. Install the Sonic Battle R handler

In Nucleus Co-op, search the Hub for Sonic Battle R and install its handler, or download the handler file from this page and drop it on the Nucleus window. Then show Nucleus where Sonic Battle R is installed.

    Download the handler file (.nc)

  3. Take a seat

Each player presses a button on their own controller to join and takes a spot on the screen. Pick a layout that fits your players.

Playing with several keyboards and mice? Press End once everything is in place to give each window its own cursor.

  4. Launch and connect

Press Launch: Nucleus opens one copy of Sonic Battle R per player and lays the windows out on your screen. Then link them in game, usually one player hosts a LAN or online session and the others join it. The handler notes say how.

Use vertical for split-screen 2 players, the game does not support horizontal ultra widescreen resolutions.

Click start, enter a name, create an online or private room with instance 1 and join with the other instances. For a private room, go to private server and host a game with instance 1, then you have to only click on connect in the other instances. In the private server menu you can setup up to 100 players, in the official matches currently only 5 players are possible. When leaving a room, click on SAVE TO LOCAL for saving, an account can also be registered to save via cloud.

If the camera can not move with the gamepad press the pause button twice. If you use multiple keyboards/mice press the END key once when the instances finish setting up to lock and restrict the keyboards/mice to each instance correctly. Press the END key again to unlock the input when you finish playing. The End key is also the spectate key in the game, if you enter the spectate mode when you lock the input with END you can just press start/escape and click on spectate to exit the mode or change the lock input key in Nucleus settings.

Maybe you have to create a custom profile in your graphics adapter system settings and force vsync or use framelimiter with or without fast sync to have 60 fps.
