How to play Rune split screen on PC

  1. Get Nucleus Co-op

Download Nucleus Co-op, free for Windows 10 and 11, and unzip it into its own folder, for example C:\NucleusCo-op. There is no installer.

Keep it out of Program Files, your user folder and OneDrive.

    Download Nucleus Co-op

  2. Install the Rune handler

In Nucleus Co-op, search the Hub for Rune and install its handler, or download the handler file from this page and drop it on the Nucleus window. Then show Nucleus where Rune is installed.

    Download the handler file (.nc)

  3. Take a seat

Each player presses a button on their own controller to join and takes a spot on the screen. Pick a layout that fits your players.

  4. Launch and connect

Press Launch: Nucleus opens one copy of Rune per player and lays the windows out on your screen. Then link them in game, usually one player hosts a LAN or online session and the others join it. The handler notes say how.

About Rune

In RUNE, players assume the role of Ragnar the Viking, mightiest warrior of a bygone age. In an age when might makes right, it is Ragnar who doles out justice on the blade of his massive battle-axe. Players will explore beautiful settings both above and below the mountains of the far north as Ragnar fights his way through several stunning and unique kingdoms to an ultimate confrontation with the Sark Amen, the shadowy warrior-masters of the netherworld. Players will have to use their brains as well as their massive brawn to survive this third-person perspective game as they explore the fully 3D game world fighting off fantastic creatures from both Norse legend and the fertile minds of the Human Head staff with their array of swords, axes and magical devices.
